Organization The World Council of Religious Leaders
History On August 28-31, 2000, two thousand participants from 110 countries met at the United Nations General Assembly Hall for the Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders. Among the participants were 1,200 religious leaders representing the world's major religions and faiths, as well as religious scholars, government and business leaders, and prominent public figures. WCRL was launched at a follow-up meeting of some 200 religious leaders and other professionals which took place in Bangkok, Thailand, June 2002.

Vision WCRL envisions a world where religious leaders play a significant role in the creation of global peace and understanding.
Mission Reconciliation, healing, and forgiveness in areas of armed conflict and tension, to foster an attitude of respect for the diversity of the human family and to pledge a commitment to take concrete actions for the achievement of world peace.
Goals No action after 2002. Formerly as an independent body without UN status, to bring religious resources to support the work of the United Nations in our common quest for peace.
