Organization
The World Subud Association
History
A Javanese, Muhammad Subuh Sumohadiwidjojo (1901-1987), first received the latihan spontaneously in 1924 in Central Java. Years later he understood that he had the mission and authority to share the practice with anyone who asked for it. Today there are Subud members in 83 nations, with national organisations in 54. The active membership, still careful in the spirit of their founder not to proselytise, has remained small, with approximately 10,000 members worldwide.
